Tuesday, May 13

We've had an excruciatingly busy time the past six weeks.  Sadly, Kassi's Grandma Lee passed away Thursday night, May 1.  She was 79.  She had a long, drawn out illness during April that kept us on the road for frequent visits to Forest City.  Do pray for the Lee family (Kassi's mother's side) as they go through this hard time.

As far as other family news goes, the girls are growing!  Erika is starting to write some letters on her own and is learning to dial the phone.  She loves trains (like Thomas the Train) and loves ballet (inspired by the Nutcracker Suite).  Anna is four months old now, and while a bit on the small side, she's developing well and really loves people.  Anna's starting on solid food now (well, as solid as baby rice cereal is).

Kassi and I are reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.

I don't want to go without thanking the Lord for answering our prayers during the war in Iraq.  While horrible things happen during war, it wasn't protracted and a people are liberated.  We need to stay on our knees, praying for the Iraqis as they reconstruct their country and learn a new way of self-governance.

I feel very strongly about journalists editing photos.

Sunday, March 30

It's spring!  Yesterday, Erika and I found yellow flowers, looked at the budding trees.  Today, at 9 a.m. we have seven inches of snow...and the storm is intensifying!  It's the biggest snow of the season.

Tuesday, March 25

We have an Anna update.  She's up to 9 pounds, 22.5 inches, and quite interested in everything around her.  Anna loves attention and rewards it with smiles and coos.  Over the weekend we heard her first giggles, and last night, she reached for and got my fingers.  Precious!

War Prayer Requests

We are about to go to war with Iraq.  I have some special prayer requests to add to the prayers you are praying about the potential conflict in the Middle East.  I heard somewhere that there is a nationwide call for everyone to pray at 9 p.m. every evening about the war; I think that is a good idea.

  • Pray for wisdom, guidance, and protection for the civilian and military leaders of our nation and others in the coalition.

  • Pray for the protection and safety of our troops, especially with the threat of biological and chemical weapons that may be used against them.

  • Pray for courage, vigilance, endurance, and valor for our troops.

  • Pray for the Iraqi people, that the innocent among them are not harmed.

  • Pray for a quick end to the war and for the Iraqi people to turn against their leaders and disobey orders that would only further the war and cause the harm of all involved.

  • Pray for the safety of our and other nations, as the potential of reprisals, either from Iraq or terrorists, is very real.

  • Pray for all the Federal, state and local government agencies that they will have insight in following any threats that might affect us.

  • Pray that Americans will unite at this difficult time, put their trust in God, and find peace in the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you have any other war prayer requests, I urge you to send them to me and to anyone else you know.  God certainly knows what is about to happen (as well as the outcome), and as His Word urges us, we should be in constant prayer.  Trust in Him!
